A Note on Sri Rangam:
Sri means 'Godess of Fortune, Mahalakshmi' and Ranga means ' Ranganathan'. Mahavishnu in a posture of lying on the Snake [Adisesha] bed. This temple is considered to be the head-quarter of all Vaishnava temples in TamilNadu [a state in south India]. Even during ' Vaikunda Ekadesi', an auspicious day, the 'Vaikunta vasal meaning 'entrance to the abode of Lord' ' of this shrine will be opened first before opening the doors of 'Vaikunta vasal' of any other 'Sri Vaishnava temple' in Tamil Nadu. The temple's rajagopuram [front elevated structure and entrance to the temple] is the tallest structure of any Hindu Temple in the whole Asia.
It is said the epic Ramayana written by the tamil poet Kavichakravarthi [emperor of poets] Kambar was introduced to the public in this temple. Kambar's Ramayana was said to be complete when he finished composing his 'Sadagobar andhadhi'.
The most important note is, it is the only temple where all alwars have sung pasurams. This makes a clear understanding that 'Namalvar' who is said to have sung all his pasurams from his place and he did not move from where he was.
